Clarence Blethen pitched for the Red Sox in 1923. The 30-year old Blethen had false teeth, but didn't wear them when he played because he thought he looked meaner without them. - He always kept his dentures in his hip pocket. One day, Blethen registered a base hit and tried to take second for a double. Forgetting where his false teeth were, he slid into second base with a scream as his dentures bit him in the behind. ________________________________________
