Clarence Blethen pitched for the Red Sox in 1923. The 30-year old Blethen had false teeth, but didn't wear them when he played because he thought he looked meaner without them.

He always kept his dentures in his hip pocket. One day, Blethen registered a base hit and tried to take second for a double. Forgetting where his false teeth were, he slid into second base with a scream as his dentures bit him in the behind.
